Scene Session is a one-hour storytelling game. The author brings a scene from their story. Everyone else plays a character in it.
The goal isn't to win โ it's to find out what happens when real people step into a world that only existed in one person's imagination. What the players feel, where they push, where they hesitate โ that's data the author can't get any other way.
CHARISMA โ Do people trust, like, or want to follow this character? HIGH means doors open. LOW means every bit of trust must be earned.
SKILL โ Are they good at what this scene is asking of them? HIGH means they're in their element. LOW means they're out of their depth.
DRIVE โ Do they push toward things, or do things happen to them? HIGH means they act first. LOW means they need a reason to move.
Every character has one HIGH, one MID, and one LOW. Nobody gets all three up. That's what makes characters interesting.
When a player tries something uncertain, they roll. First they name which slider applies โ Charisma, Skill, or Drive โ and explain how. That choice is part of the story.
Every character is hiding something. A line they'd never cross. When the scene presses on it, the player doesn't just roll โ they have to answer in character.
The Secret holds. Always. That's what makes the character real.
The Narrator opens the scene, describes the world, and asks: what do you do?
After the scene, spend 10 minutes asking the table:
